Muir Woods National Monument is a must-see destination on any visit to the San Francisco Bay Area. Just a short drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, the protected nature reserve is home to one of the world’s last remaining coastal redwood forests.

Choose from a morning or afternoon departure. Stop at a vista point for a fantastic perspective of the Golden Gate and Alcatraz, and wind through the rolling emerald hills of the Marin Headlands to arrive at Muir Woods. Stroll along forest paths surrounded by the giant redwood trees, some of which stretch as high as 250 feet (76 meters) and date back nearly 800 years.

After Muir Woods, take a short drive to the artistic bayside village of Sausalito. Capture wonderful photos of the San Francisco skyline during a stroll along the waterfront, pop into one of the many art galleries and grab a cappuccino or ice cream at a local café (own expense).

Your tour concludes with drop off at either of the two departure points or choose the option of taking the Sausalito ferry back to San Francisco (Pier 41).

YOU HAVE TO EXPLORE THE PARK BY YOURSELF. NOT A GUIDED TOUR
    wendy_i
    , Aug 2022
Everything is OK. The driver was very professional. But is too expensive to pay that money just for the drive to get there. You have to explore the park by yourself. When they mention "guided tour" means that the driver will be telling information about the place while driving.

Best tour in town. Second time I’ve done this tour. Great knowledgeable fun driver. Organized well. Ending the day with the ferry is the cherry on top. You stop at the Golden Gate Bridge overlook on the wy to Muir Woods and end the day with views of the bridge and Alcatraz from the ferry. Muir Woods is magical!

Great experience to learn about the tall redwoods in Muir. Happy we booked the early morning departure, this way it was quiet in the woods still. Sausalito is cute but there is not much else to do besides having lunch… or gelato. Nice guide!

Do not book with Gray Line, they have limited options. I missed this trip as my Uber driver who barely spoke English was late and I was scheduled to leave the next day and at 10:40 AM it was their last flight of the day and they refused to give me a refund.

The tour was well organized. The bus arrived when it was supposed to and there was an agent to check us in and give some directions. However, after that there were very few aspects which were a “tour”. The driver was supposed to provide information on various listed pass by points. He provided very little information and what he did say was said in a low, inaudible volume. He was the most unenthusiastic tour guide I have ever seen. Once in the woods we luckily got some information from their ranger. The second stop in Sausalito was just a drop off. The driver reported that there were some restaurants. He did direct us where the ferry was which we headed to right away since it was not recommended to see anything of great interest in town. (We didn’t want to eat). That was lucky since we were not given a schedule in advance and we discovered the ferry had a limited schedule. We would have been stuck there for over an hour had we not grabbed the one that was waiting.

This tour had excellent views of the bay as we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge. Our tour guide was pleasant, a wealth of knowledge and gave great tips on how to best see these great reds in Muir Woods. We highly recommend this must see adventure.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable and professional. Go to learn more about the area and history of San Francisco, and the scenic and laid-back Sausalito was a enticing end to a great tour.

The bus that the company used was very comfortable and the tour guide was knowledgeable, while working in some jokes. He also made a couple of other stops along the way to the vista points so you could get a good shot of the Golden Gate Bridge, unfortunately It was SUPER foggy the day we went so we only got the tail end. I would recommend taking the ferry back for some very pretty views of the city. Doing this tour allowed me to experience and enjoy the drive versus focusing so much on getting their.

Great tour! Added the boat ride from Sausalito to SF which was perfect. Great tour guide (Joseph?, and Brandon the driver). Loved the extra quick city tour and info- very informative and personal. Muir Woods reminded me a lot of Vancouver west coast, beautiful. Sausalito is an upscale pricey little town … but very quaint and cool.
