Kayak on the Bayou with AJ!

, Jul 2022
Incredible experience thanks to the skillful guidance of our tour guide AJ! Gave us insights into the history of NoLa, biological background on the swamp, and an enjoyable kayak trip on the bayou! Definitely recommend. (Also, fears of alligators were assuaged!)

Really great day all around. Mingo was incredibly knowledgeable and all in all pleasant to be around. One of us was a first timer and he was very welcoming with that. She was very comfortable doing a new thing. The water was low during our tour and when our boats sometimes got stuck, he was really good about helping us get out. He also was very reassuring that the water was safe. My only suggestion would be to remind the tandem kayakers that it’s better to put the more powerful and/or experienced rower in the rear of the boat. We found the experience to be very relaxing. And it proved to be a wonderful way to explore and learn about this region.

Bingo was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and fun. It was an experience we can’t get in the St. Louis area. Highly recommend!

Aj was a great tour guide. He provided a lot of cool knowledge about swamp ecology. It was also nice to paddle at our own pace especially for beginners. Only complaint I have is the front desk customer service was awful when guiding us to the pickup point.

We did the 2pm time. Lots of turtles and alligators out. Fish were even jumping out of the water catching bugs. The weather was nice. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and our group was a lot of fun. We had a really good time

A kayak trip through Manchac swamp is the perfect balancer to a busy FQ schedule and, as AJ, our terrific guide pointed out, a great way to do your tourist part to support and protect the local wildlife and waters. The 2 hour trip (plus transport) is serene, picturesque and the perfect length to still get in other things during the day, not to mention you will most likely see alligators, maybe an owl, egrets and eagles. Don’t miss it!

AJ was a great guide through the amazing bayou. This is a very special trip. My 14 year old son and I loved it. Highly recommend it! We saw eagles, a bard owl, many alligators. It’s a peaceful quiet place. Splendid!

What a wonderful way to experience the unique beauty and mystery of the South Louisiana swamps and bayous. Our guide Kali, was knowledgeable about this fascinating ecosystem. As we meandered through the Manchac Swamp she would point out flora and fauna of note. From invasive Apple Snails to the Limpkins that eat them to bald eagles and of course the ‘gators we were provided a fun, relaxing and educational experience that beats anything Bourbon Street “offers.” Thanks!!!

Our tour guide, Bingo, was wonderful. He was knowledgeable and very passionate about the swamp ecosystem and Louisiana In general. We did not see any alligators since it was January, but the weather was great for kayaking.

Kayaking the swamp was very interesting and totally worth doing. Our guide, AJ, was however not very attentive to the needs of some of the kayakers. He tended to spend too much time texting.
