Your tour begins with an early morning departure. Arriving at Chichen Itza, join your specialized guide for an in-depth tour of the site, and enjoy the tranquility of your early-morning visit before the crowds arrive. Throughout the trip, your archaeological guide’s commentary provides essential background to the well-preserved site of Chichen Itza. Learn how this large pre-Colombian city played an important role in Mayan civilization from around A.D. 600 to 1200, and remained a center of worship and pilgrimage until the arrival of the Spanish. Even today, it is still considered a sacred site by the Yucatán peninsula’s Maya population. Like many of ancient Mexico’s cities, the site was abandoned, and its ruins were hidden by jungle. Hear how the site was discovered and unearthed by archaeologists, gaining UNESCO protection and considered today one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Your guide will explain the philosophy, cosmology and mythology behind this ancient site, such as the meaning of the stone carvings, pyramids, platforms, ball courts and staircases. Visit the Observatory, Temple of the Jaguars, Temple of the Warriors and of course the famous El Castillo, also known as the Temple of Kukulkan.  Return around 3:00 p.m. With this Viator Exclusive, your early morning trip to Chichen Itza helps you to beat the crowds so you can enjoy the remainder of the afternoon at your own leisure!

The trip was long what the tour was great. Frank was amazing at his job. He taught us a lot about the culture and how the history channel was wrong. I would say bring sunglasses and sunscreen. It’s very pretty place. And the new 7th wonder of the world.

It was a very good experience. Starting by the knowledge of David, the tour guide, which for me was the highest point of interest. The way he explains the story is just amazing. Chichen Itzá itself, is a magic place. There is not a lot to see, but it is good to know the reasons for it to be there. The Mayan history is also one of the highest points that explains why Chichen Itzá exists. Shame that it was so rainy that we couldn´t swimm in the cenote. Everything else was very good except food at lunch. Didn´t like it. I highly recommend this tour.

The tour itself was spectacular! I could not have dreamed of better destinations and am extremely pleased with my experience. Vicente, our tour guide from amigo tours, is hands down the best tour guide I've ever witnessed. From start to finish he is an incredible story teller who shared just the right amount of information to prepare of for each stop. Vicente is very charismatic, kind and has an excellent sense of humor, in 2 languages! His ability to share so much knowledgeable while interpreting between English and Spanish, is impressive. I would take this tour again just to experience Vicente. Rodrigo from Chichen Itza - I've visited 3 of the 7 wonders of the world and Rodrigo was the best tour guide out of then all. He is a master story teller with so much knowledge and charisma and he guided the tour at a manageable pace. Rodrigo is quite the artful photographer and will help guests get the best shots for impressing your friends on social media. I would take this tour again just to learn from Rodrigo.

    Long day

It was a fun but very long day. Pablo was a great driver and Freddie was a great tour guide. Chichen Itza was beautiful but please note that due to covid they are only allowing 2 hours for all guests into the archaeological site which is no where near enough time. They did provide a lot of history and education throughout the bus ride to prepare us so we felt well informed when we arrived. We honestly could have done without the stop at the Mayan community and valladolid. Valladolid is a quick 20 minute stop just to use the bathrooms so can’t say we saw much of the city. The Mayan community was basically just a stop to forcibly buy their souvenirs which are the same everywhere else. Bring snacks and lots of water! All in all, organization was great and if you’re there to see Chichen Itza, you will have a great experience.

Marco explained all points of interest as well as cultural ties in detail. He was very enthusiastic and was happy to answer any questions we had on the tour. The first stop was Valladolid which was a cute little town where we went to see the infamous church and did some light shopping. The tour company does a great job about working to avoid crowds, especially at Chichen Itza! Got some great solo photos with minimal people in the background but more than anything we could fully engage with our tour guide with minimal distractions. The buffet lunch was very tasty as well and it was really cool to see the Mayan culture up close - we even learned a few phrases in Mayan to try and communicate with the locals. We ended the day with tequila tasting and swimming in a cenote. The order of events made this part so refreshing to end the day with. We also ate some amazing elote and churros to top off the day. At the end of the day, it was such a blessing to be on the tour so that we could sleep after a long day. We were picked up and dropped off by our hotel lobbies so it was very convenient and I would HIGHLY recommend this tour!

Daniel the guide and Felipe the driver did a great job. Daniel was so friendly and super knowledgeable. The restaurant for the lunch buffet was amazing. I didn't enjoy the cenote much just because it was super crowded. The tequila tasting however, was surprising and very good. Thank you for the good time!
