Horrible, unsafe, and rude

To begin, this is one of the only tours that did not text us the night before to confirm. They picked us up in the morning in a horrible condition little car that seated 4 people. The car was dirty and reeked of smoke. On our booking, it said that we would be picked up by a minivan with WiFi. Do not fall for that it’s completely a lie. No minivan or WiFi. Just a small broken down car in its last days with no security features. On our way to Alexandria, the driver (Ahmed) drove very dangerously down the freeway at 140km per hour and drove recklessly. His seatbelts were not working so we didn’t even have an option to buckle. When we arrived to Alexandria, the tour guide (Mohammed) began his tour. The tour guide was terrible. The only thing he said at each spot was “this is Roman type. This Egyptian”. He didn’t know anything else. When I asked Mohammed a question, he responded in a very rude and condescending way. He reacted as if I should have known. Additionally, on the trip description, it said we had 2 hours at each spot. In reality, we had around 15 mins at each spot and he was rushing us the whole time. He was also extremely rude to women, especially to my girlfriend who was also on the tour. We had also paid for the meal that included a seafood lunch for two. However, the tour guide refused our lunch and said we still had to pay out of pocket. We let it go but later confirmed with our booking that we did indeed pay for lunch. The cherry on top to all of this was the one place we really wanted to see was the Alexandria library, was not even open. When we arrived, we were told by the security guards that the library was closed. And Mohammed said “yes today is closed”. Like are you serious?! We drove 6 hours to see this and you didn’t even have the common decency to let us know it’s closed on the day of our visit? Seriously, one the the worst tours we have ever been on. These people are rude, condescending, and just overall not good people. We felt very scared for our safety the entire time and we didn’t learn anything. This guy is not an Egyptologist. You’re better off hiring a street vender to take you on the tour. This tour company should be taken off Viator.

Well, what can I say… I took this tour just last week. I was very excited to visit Alexandria, but unfortunately my experience wasn’t the best. I would like to start with the driver, although he was nice, the round trip from Cairo to Alexandria was scary to say the least. He was going so fast that I was praying we won’t get killed on our way there. Once we got to Alexandria safe and sound (Thank God). We started the tour as we were supposed to, visiting the first site in the itinerary, so far great. We jump into the car to go to the next stop, Citadel of Qaitbay which I never got to go inside. Ahmed told me that this building was empty inside and there is nothing to see. He instead took to some weird side close by overlooking the fortress. There were a lot of trash and bad smells there. He then took me to lunch, we spend more time there than at any site. The last two stop were not in our itinerary Which was the Sidi Abo El Abbas El Morsi Mosque and the library of Alexandria. I was excited about the library but he once again told it was close. Once I got back I went online just too see if was open until 7 pm that day. He was very eager to take me to the cotton store and to another craft store once back in Cairo. I’m very disappointed because I feel my time in Alexandria could have been better. We never visited the 2 other sites that were in my booking offered by Viator.

Not good

It was really scary there and I felt a bit uncomfortable. I wish the library was included (which it was on the itinerary) or at least some good spots to take a picture from. The drive was exhausting and kinda not worth it. The main problem with all the tours in Egypt is that it is never what is in description.

The Tour that never happened

This trip did not happen. We booked and paid. We tried to contact the Tour operator everyday with no response. We got a response after about 4 days asking us for our "voucher". We shared the confirmation and issued ticket immediately. We did not hear from the Tour operator again. We couldn't cancel in time because Tour operator cancelation policy was prohibitive. We are still waiting for our refund.

Terrific

Had one of the BEST tours from Cairo to Alexandria. My tour guide, Ahmed Elsayed was extremely nice and highly informative from start of the trip until the end. He was very knowledgeable on the history of every landmark we visited in Alexandria and was able to clearly explain the stories on the hieroglyphics. I was traveling on my own and Ahmed made me feel safe and protected throughout the entire trip. He also helped take great photos for me! Ayman was a 5 star driver, we had a smooth drive and he also made me feel safe with all of the crazy drivers in Egypt. At the end of the trip, Ahmed and Alyman were so kind to take me to the last hotel I stayed in where I left my laundry and took me to an amazing papyrus factory that happened to be nearby. I was lucky to have these two in my tour and would def want them as tour guides next time I’m in Egypt!

Only gave it 3 stars because the tour company picked me up really late! So we got there at around noon time instead of the morning. Alexandria is a nice city! We didn't enter qaitbay, the guide did not want to enter and I just went along with that. I know it was open to the public but who knows. The library was packed when we got there. We could not enter due to the limited space inside. The Roman theater was nice! And so were the catacombs

Day visit to Alexandria from Cairo

We were a group of 4 who were on business who wanted a day team building day away from Cairo and this trip did not disappoint. We had a great memorable day out. I would recommend this tour to similar groups or families. We booked very late on the day before the tour. The tour guide Mohammed promptly communicated with me direct via WhatsApp. Mohammed was very knowledgeable at all attractions and made our day pass very smoothly and without a hitch. His driver was very safe in very demanding traffic and always on call to pick us up straight after each event. Prior to booking this tour, we were concerned by the other reviews made. I would just like to reassure anyone in the same position that we did not experience any problems, the tour operator turned up on time, drove us very safely, was very polite and friendly and delivered a superb day out. We got exactly what was advertised. Many Thanks, we will definitely do the same again. Notes: This is a whistle-stop tour of the main attractions in Alexandria from Cairo. Be prepared for a 3 hour journey there and a 3 hour + journey back, Cairo and Alexandria traffic can be bad, so best days to mitigate this is to do this tour on a Friday or Saturday. To ensure to see all four offered venues, work with your guide's pace, enjoy each venue but move on to the next venue asap. This will leave you ample time at the Fort at the end of the day. This tour does not include entry charges which are 80EGP per attraction.
