The Mikumi floodplain, with its open grassland, dominates the park together with the mountain ranges that borders the park in two sides. The park provides excellent opportunities to view a variety of animals and birds in a short period of time without too much driving around. The wildlife viewing experience in this park can be experienced right upon entering the park where you can encounter baboon, zebra, impala and many more wild animals

Magoroto Forest Estate is Tanzania’s newest forest retreat situated near Muheza, Tanga; about 6 hours drive from Dar es Salaam. It has a tropical rain forest climate with spices, birds and a man-made lake, making it the perfect getaway from the city. It was named after Englishman Sir Frederick Selous, who died at Behobeho in his territory in 1917 while fighting against the Germans during First World War.  The Selous Game Reserve was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 due to the diversity of its wildlife and undisturbed nature. Strolling through Bagamoyo’s narrow, unpaved streets takes you back to the mid-19th century, when the town was one of the most important settlements along the East African coast and the terminus of the trade caravan route linking Lake Tanganyika with the sea. Slaves, ivory, salt and copra were unloaded here before being shipped to Zanzibar Island and elsewhere, and many European explorers, including Richard Burton, Henry Morton Stanley and David Livingstone, began and ended their trips here. In 1868 French missionaries established Freedom Village at Bagamoyo as a shelter for ransomed slaves, and for the remainder of the century the town served as a way station for missionaries travelling from Zanzibar Island to the interior.
