Things to do in  Cyprus

Welcome to Cyprus

The island country of Cyprus is relatively small, but its multifaceted allure beckons a wide array of travelers. Revelers flock to the mega clubs of Ayia Napa; history buffs travel back in time at the UNESCO-listed Tombs of the Kings; and those enraptured by contemporary politics visit Nicosia (Lefkosia), the Cypriot capital and one of the world's last divided cities. With so much to see and do, a guided tour means you can hit the top spots without having to arrange for transportation. The historic city of Paphos on the southwest coast—home to Paphos Archaeological Park, St. Paul's Pillar, and Ayios Neophytos Monastery—teems with culture and serves as a perfect base for day trips to the Troodos Mountains, Kykkos Monastery, and the enchanting Blue Lagoon and Adonis Baths. Meanwhile, Limassol (on the southern coast) offers easy access to Fasouri Watermania, Aphrodite Beach, and the ancient ruins of Kourion. If you're seeking an alternative sightseeing experience, visit Famagusta, home to an imitable mix of sandy beaches and Gothic monuments. Nature lovers can connect with Cyprus' wild landscapes on an active excursion to Akamas on the northwest side of the island, where wild flowers, submerged caves, and volcanic peaks abound. And don't miss out on wine tasting in the rural villages surrounding Larnaca to the south, or a Jeep safari through the Troodos Mountains, in the center of the island, with its peaks that reach more than 6,561 feet (2,000 meters).

If you believe the legends, the Adonis Baths played an important role in Greek mythology – it was here that lovers Adonis and Aphrodite spent much of their time, conceived many of their children and ultimately, where a wounded Adonis died in the arms of Aphrodite.Today, the romantic spot is a popular choice for visitors to Cyprus and swimming in the natural pools is said to bring virility and long-lasting youth, while touching the waterfront statue of Adonis and Aphrodite is alleged to bring fertility. Kykkos Monastery (Panagia tou Kykkou)

Kykkos Monastery (Panagia tou Kykkou)

star-4.528
Perched at 1,318 meters in the Troodos Mountains, against a backdrop of pine-covered slopes, Kykkos Monastery (Panagia tou Kykkou) is not only Cyprus’ largest and most famous monastery, but one of its most magnificent tourist attractions. The original Byzantine monastery was founded in the late 11th-century, but today most of the structures date back to the 19th century, while an impressive collection of icons, manuscripts and antiquities are housed in the onsite Monastery Museum. The richly decorated monastery is a feast for the eyes, with its gleaming marble floors, colorful murals and elaborate frescoes, but its most notable asset is a silver-gilded icon of the Virgin Mary, one of three surviving icons painted by the Apostle Luke, enshrined in an ornate tortoiseshell and mother-of-pearl case and never uncovered. Also in the monastery grounds is the tomb of Archbishop Makarios III, the first President of the Republic of Cyprus.More

Troodos and Kykkos Day Tour from Paphos
Coach arrived on time, the guide provided information about Cyprus from the moment the tour started until we were making the journey home|The first stop was the Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery, where we spent 40 mins there's not alot to see here apart from the small church, there was good viewing point of the mountains for some good photos but I like many of the others spent 20 mins just wasting time until we could go on our way.
