The Basics

Gazing down at Cape Town from the top of Table Mountain is an iconic experience. Just about every Cape Town city tour includes a trip to the top of Table Mountain, and the aerial cableway is included in the Cape Town City Pass. If you’re pressed for time, opt for a private tour with skip-the-line access to the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, and if you’re feeling adventurous, you can challenge yourself with a guided hike up the mountain (and a sweat-free cable car ride back down).

Table Mountain, Boulder's Penguins & Cape Point Private Tour from Cape Town
An excellent way to spend a day in Cape Town! Our guide Peter went out of his way to make the day very special and to make sure we got to see and do all of the activities advertised. He had a vast knowledge of SA history and was a delight to be with for the day. We can not recommend this tour enough.

Table Mountain Skip-the-Line Ticket and Half-Day Private Chauffeur
There should be an option to communicate with the service provider via messaging (as is the case with many others through Viator app). I prefer to not rely on phone calls only. Not to mention, important details can be lost in a verbal conversation. Also, the skip the line option is not skipping the biggest line--one to board the cable car.

I can not recommend this tour enough. Pick up from the hotel was seamless and Alan did an incredible job of keeping us to schedule (without us feeling rushed), providing us with information on where we were visiting, recommending a lunch venue and generally showing us all the spectacular sights.

Table Mountain, Boulder's Penguins & Cape Point Private Tour from Cape Town
The overall tour was excellent! Our driver, Felix was on time, helpful and full of an abundance of information! Though the weather was not cooperating and it was cold and cloudy, we still managed to get some awesome pictures! Unfortunately, due to high and heavy and winds, Table Mountain was closed so we weren't able to make on that part of the trip. Our tour guide was so helpful, he attempted to reschedule that part of the trip for the next day. Due to the unpredictability of the weather, we were advised to wait to confirm if Table Mountain was operating the next day. Nevertheless, the tour tour definitely worth it! Plus we got to see lots of penguins with their babies too!!

Albert was AWESOME!

Table Mountain, Boulder's Penguins & Cape Point Private Tour from Cape Town
This private tour was great! Despite me calling viator several times and confirming the pick up time and sharing my local phone number for contact, they still failed to give it to the guide. So he was an hour early picking us up. This is no fault of his, but solely on viator. However, this did not lessen our enjoyment of the tour with Albert. He was professional, courteous, and full of knowledge. We covered a lot of ground in 8 hours and never felt rushed at all. And he is quite the photographer, always willing to snap a pic for us. Many thanks to Albert for such a great tour, can’t wait to visit again. You will not be disappointed in this tour, book it!

Things to Know Before You Go

  • Table Mountain is a must-see for all first-time visitors to Cape Town.

  • Without skip-the-line access, be prepared to wait in line for as long as an hour for a cableway ticket in peak season (December to April).

  • Note that the cableway doesn’t operate in strong wind.

  • Take something warm to wear, as it’s significantly chillier on the mountain than in Cape Town.

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes, especially if you plan to use the trail network at the top of the mountain.

  • The cableway is accessible to wheelchair users, as are some areas atop the mountain.
