You will experience the local process of planting. and making coffee using local machine and also getting chance of planting and testing your own cup of coffee that you have prepared.

You'll get an authentic view of Tanzania by visiting a group of local potters who create beautiful and functional pieces out of locally mined clay. They'll teach you to prepare, turn, trim, and fire your own pieces, using local tools. At the end of the day, you'll take your completed pot away as a memento of your day. You'll also learn about the work of The Small Things, supporting families and caring for children in crisis.

Welcome - we'd love for you to join us and learn to create beautiful metal or beaded jewelry at our vocational studio in the Meru region! In just a few hours, you'll learn how to create beautiful pieces of jewelry in traditional styles, and you'll have something precious to take home and remember your visit by. You'll learn about TST's work empowering the local community, including our vocational program supporting impoverished young adults and helping them to start sustainable businesses. Throughout the day, I will also teach you about the Meru tribal culture and history. The small donation that we ask for goes 100% directly to our children, families, and programs. From your donation, $10 can pay for art supplies for a class at the daycare. $25 can feed one of our children for two weeks. $75 helps a family start a business. $200 covers all of the living costs for a child for a month in residential care. This is a unique opportunity to help vulnerable children in our community!

With the guidance of the Mama's you will learn how to make local dishes and discover the unique flavors of Tanzanian cooking whilst learning about the extraordinary work that Lifted Strong do for women in their community. As part of this class you will help to prepare the produce using traditional techniques and also learn their Swahili names from the Mama's. Then you will be taught how to make up each dish and cook it in the outdoor kitchen here at Lifted Strong. Whilst waiting for the food to cook, learn about the lives of the Mama's as well as how Lifted Strong has helped them start their own businesses. Also be prepared to join in with a song and dance as the Mama's love to boogie! We can cater for vegetarians and vegans but please let us know in advance of the class. We don't provide drinks so please bring your own beverages to enjoy with your food. Our weekly Thursday class starts at 2:30pm, and let us know if you would like to be met on the road.
